How to request a valve quotation

Start with the service conditions.

A useful request connects the valve type with the actual operating duty. Share the information you already have; clearly mark the details that still need to be confirmed. A nominal size and a pressure class alone do not describe the full application.

1. Describe the medium and the duty

Identify the fluid, whether solids are present, and whether the valve will isolate, regulate flow or prevent reverse flow. Include chemical composition, concentration and any abrasion concerns where relevant. Describe the normal sequence of operation and expected frequency of use.

2. Define pressure, temperature and connections

Provide design and operating conditions, including differential pressure where available. List the nominal size, connection type, flange or thread standard and the required face-to-face dimensions. For a replacement, a drawing, nameplate photograph and current installation dimensions are particularly useful.

3. State material and sealing requirements

Specify any required body, trim, seat, sleeve and seal materials. If materials have not yet been selected, describe the process and environment so they can be reviewed. Include shut-off expectations and any cleaning or maintenance requirements.

4. Include automation and control details

For an automated valve, state electric or pneumatic operation, the available electrical supply or minimum air pressure, the control signal and any required fail position. Include operating-time requirements and installation constraints. Where available, provide the valve torque data and the complete operating duty for actuator review.

5. List documentation and delivery requirements

Include quantity, requested inspection documents, drawings, certificates and project-specific requirements. State the delivery destination, requested delivery date and Incoterm. Product availability, final specification and delivery are confirmed against the actual enquiry.
